Costs of Solar PV
RSPI’s Installers can install ANY SOLAR PV SYSTEM SIZE, below is a guide to the most common residential Solar PV Systems.
If the system you would like a quote for is not listed just contact us, RSPI also provide quotes for commercial & large scale Solar Systems.
The cost of a Solar Photovoltaic System installation will depend on the size of your property, the roof space available, your energy usage, results of an EPC test, make of panels used, the inverter size and so on. It is therefore very difficult to provide an accurate quotation without discussing your requirements first.
Estimates can be made, but a suitability survey is the only way to be sure of what you will expect to pay. Our recommended installer will provide you with a FREE, no obligation quotation today. Click here for your FREE quote and find out how much exactly your solar PV system will cost.
Standard costs include:
Equipment costs (which depend on the size & quality of your system)
Installation costs (which depend on the size and quality of your system)
Accreditation of your system once installed
A fee for an Energy Performance Certificate, which you need to level “D” before you can receive the highest level of payments under the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) scheme.
What is the Return on Investment?
(FIT payments at current rate 13/07/2013)
14.90p/kWh National Grid Export Rate 4.64p/kWh Annual Saving @ 14.4p/kWh
Solar PV installation costs: Prices based on estimation
1kw – From £3,750
2kw – From £4,450

The savings you make once your Solar PV system is installed are likely to increase in time, as the cost of energy increases.
Reduction in cost of solar PV
Huge reductions mean Solar PV install costs are now lower than ever. When the Government introduced the FIT rate at 43.3p, the cost of an average 4kW Solar Photovoltaic System was around £17,000.00. The Feed In Tariff was a massive success and took off in the UK with a bang. In no time at all the UK Government realised they had nearly reached the 2020 carbon reduction target, and therefore lowered the Feed In Tariff rate. As the FIT rate was lowered, the panel manufacturers had to recalculate their costs as to make the Return On Investment worthwhile.
Average cost for a 4kW system now stands between £5.5k – £6.5k with our approved installer. With a lower Feed In Tariff and a lower install cost; the ROI is still very appealing to anyone interested in saving money, making money and generating their own electricity. So as it stands today, the Feed In Tariff is lower, but so are the installation costs. Prices for solar PV have never been lower, and panel manufactures still offer the highest quality products with a high efficiency.
Now is the time to commit to a cleaner and greener future. **
Earning and savings with the FIT Payments (Feed In Tariff)
The Government has an objective to reduce UK carbon emissions by 80% by 2050 which has led to the introduction of Feed in Tariffs (FITs); a scheme that rewards homeowners who generate and use sustainable electricity. Installing Solar PV panels with will mean you’re eligible for a quarterly payment.
Tariffs are paid for 20 years and indexed linked to RPI (Retail Price Index) so the rate will increase with inflation.
You are paid for the electricity you generate, even if you use it yourself, for any extra electricity you export to the grid and of course you’ll also save money on your electricity bill, because you’ll be using your own electricity.
Your energy supplier will make the FIT payments to you at a set rate for each unit of electricity you generate, you will then receive a further (payment at current rate) 4.64p/kWh from your energy supplier for each unit you don’t use and export back to the grid, as well as making savings on your electricity bills. The large energy suppliers are required by law to provide FIT payments; smaller suppliers are not, but many have opted to offer them anyway.
